Our 12 Days of Christmas activities have seen many teams at the EMC supporting lots of different charities and causes across the Midlands. Here are some of our 'best bits':
EMC superstars lend a hand to Cancer Research shop in Walsall
Aimee Crook and three of her colleagues spent last Thursday at the Cancer Research charity shop in Walsall, shelving items and arranging festive stock displays to drive sales.
Aimee said: “We all have someone close to our hearts that’s fallen victim to cancer. It was great to be able to help out at the shop, the staff there were amazing, they just let us go wild with out creativity and take over the shop floor to decorate.”
Plant Quality team add festive sparkle to Compton Care Hospice
Our engine plant used a Land Rover Velar this Christmas to transport decorations to brighten up Compton Care, a hospice for those who cannot spend the festive season at home due to life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
Petrol team support MP&L’s appeal for the Haven Refuge
When Nick Cooper (team leader) heard about MP&L’s appeal for toiletries for the Haven Refuge in Wolverhampton, many of the associates from Zone 13 chipped in and raised £85 which enabled lots of essentials to be purchased for the Haven.
The Haven are a local charity who provide both practical and emotional support services to women and children who are affected by domestic violence and homelessness.
EMC’s plant quality team show a ‘man’s best friend’ some TLC this Christmas
The Greyhound Trust aims to find good homes for dogs when they come to the end of their racing careers at Monmore Green Greyhound stadium. The Plant Quality team spent the day looking after the greyhounds, walking and brushing them as well as making their beds and giving them their dinner. They also spent time cleaning the dog kennels and pens.
HR team are ‘hired’ for the day as volunteers at the Midlands Air Ambulance
A team from HR spent a day last week lending a helping hand at the Midlands Air Ambulance charity shop in the Saddlers Centre in Walsall.
The team from HR included Stephanie Brough, Leanne Watson, Sophia Samuels, Alice Baker, Andy Ferrett and Zoe Miller. Steph said: “There was plenty to do and a staggering amount of donations at the shop. Most of our day was spent sorting through the donations, deciding what could be sold and what couldn’t in order to make room for new donations.”
Raffles raises £1300 for the Severn Hospice
Jen Deeming teamed up with one of our partners Synchreon to do a plant-wide raffle to raise money for the Severn Hospice. Severn Hospice gives specialist care and support free of charge to families who are living with an incurable illness.
There were lots of fantastic prizes up for grabs which Jen sourced from ice skating passes to three-course meals.
Children’s Choir sing their way to success raising money for Acorn’s Hospice
Children from a local school came to the EMC this week to perform some Christmas hits. They chose Acorn’s Children’s Hospice to raise money for and after an absolutely dazzling performance, they raised a whopping £125.00 for the charity.
