55 charity donations to mark 55 years of Halewood production
The Halewood Operations Employees’ Charity Fund (HOECF) has donated more than £14,000 to 55 local charities and good causes
The fund has been running for 10 years now and is designed to support charities and local good causes which are championed by a Jaguar Land Rover employee. Almost £200,000 has been raised and donated locally in that time.
The funds are generated each year at the annual Charity Fund Dinner Dance and the pot is then distributed over the following 12 months.
Stuart Lord, Operations Director and Charity Fund Chairman, said: “We were delighted to raise £25,000 at our annual dinner last year and that success has meant that since September we have been able to donate more than half of this to 55 local good causes to mark our 55th anniversary.”
In addition to the annual dinner dance funds are sometimes donated directly. This year, Body Shop Maintenance colleague, John Polhill has provided fork lift truck training for the IESA (Stores) team and raised £1,500 during the process, this generous donation will be split evenly between the HOECF and our Halewood Charity of the Year 2018. Big thanks to John and Tracey Hilton; Darren Baines; Tony Leyland and Rob Higginson (all pictured).
Some of the charities and good causes send us photographs which show the donations in action. Many thanks to the HOECF Committee for keeping the fund going in their own time. Thanks to Ken Wheeler; Joanne Martin; Mel Wildman; Kate Birkenhead and Neil Roscoe.
