The new Land Rover Discovery Sport comes packed with a host of technology to make the driver’s and passengers’ lives easier.
As soon as you step into the new and improved compact SUV, drivers will be greeted by the 10.25-inch Touch Pro infotainment system, with a hidden-until-lit interface sat below it to control the climate control, Terrain Response 2 and Advanced Tow Assist systems.
Drivers can also have the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and full-colour head-up display, while occupants can charge their smartphone wirelessly for the first time.
The new Discovery Sport is also available with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offering smartphone integration. While drivers can take advantage of Land Rover’s Smart Settings technology, which uses artificial intelligence to learn their habits over time.
The ‘self-learning’ technology recognises each driver via their key fob or phone and sets the car up according to their preferences.
Passengers meanwhile will be able to benefit from a 4G Wifi hotspot capable of connecting eight devices to the internet, as well as six USB and 12-volt ports located around the cabin to keep everyone connected and entertained.
Second row passengers will also be given more control, as they will be able to adjust the temperature from their seats with the introduction of buttons on the rear of the centre cubby.
The new Discovery Sport also gets ClearSight Ground View and Rear View Mirror, first seen on the second generation Range Rover Evoque. The powerful camera systems give drivers extra peace of mind, with the former projecting a view of the road or terrain underneath the vehicle.
ClearSight gives drivers an obstructed rear-view thanks to a rear camera positioned above the back window.
Simon Barnes, Chief Programme Engineer of the Premium Transverse Architecture, said the new Discovery Sport is the perfect balance of Land Rover capability and modern-day convenience, adding:
“Every bit of technology throughout the cabin is there to make this vehicle easier to use, whether improving rear visibility, remembering the driver’s cabin preferences or keeping everyone safe. This compact SUV is so much more than the best in its class – it is a class act.”
