Two Jaguar Land Rover Apprentices secured highly prestigious awards this month at the annual Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards.
Friday 4 November 2022 is a day that will be remembered for years to come for Parris Small and Beverley Ngo. We are delighted to share that both of these fantastic Apprentices picked up highly prestigious awards at the annual Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards.
Parris, our Digital and Technology Solutions Apprentice, won the Award for Engineering and Manufacturing and followed that up with the top award on the night – Apprentice of the Year 2022.
Congratulations are also very much in order for fellow apprentice, Beverley, who received the Highly Commended in Engineering and Manufacturing 2022 award.
These awards bring some well-deserved recognition for two apprentices who, thanks to their hard work, determination and application, are huge role models for those who hope to follow in their footsteps in the future and secure an apprenticeship at Jaguar Land Rover next year.
The Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards, previously the BAME Apprenticeship Awards, aims to showcase talent and diversity within multicultural communities through the celebration of those working hard to overcome adversity to achieve their goals through apprenticeships.
We are proud to offer apprenticeships that provide a fantastic start to a career in the automotive industry. The practical experience alongside the knowledge and skills that our apprentices develop is a key part in allowing us to build the cars of tomorrow. This is the future of movement, and we could not be prouder of what Parris and Beverley have already achieved.
After the dust settled on the event, we got a chance to catch up with Parris to hear her reflections on receiving her awards:
"I was honoured to be named Apprentice of the Year and receive the Award for Engineering & Manufacturing at the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards," said Parris.
"Receiving such high recognition means a lot to me, it proves that you can succeed when the statistics are stacked against you.
"As a woman of colour, it was so refreshing to see a room full of success and diversity. I hope this achievement helps me leave a legacy that inspires others to consider an apprenticeship and/or career in STEM"
Beverley also took the time to share her reflections upon receiving her accolade: "It was great to collect my award for Highly Commended Engineering and Manufacturing Apprentice in a Land Rover Green-coloured Traditional Chinese dress," she said.
"This was significant for me because the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards was created to celebrate bringing your true self and culture to work, so it was great to honour both my Chinese-Vietnamese heritage and my place of work in that way."
Congratulations again to both Parris and Beverley for their awards.
Applications for our next cohort of Apprentices opens in January 2023. If you know anyone who might be interested in joining our team and being part of the future of movement, they can find out more information about our Apprenticeships here: Apprentices (jaguarlandrovercareers.com).
