Have you ever considered what happens to the leftover cardboard packaging once it gets chucked into the many recycling stations around plant?
No, well we hadn’t either until Paul Ellen from the AME construction team called to tell us all about a brand new cardboard recycling facility on site. Like us, we’re sure you’ll be impressed.
Once scooped up by Leadec all of our cardboard waste (about 12 tonnes per week) now makes its way to this new cleaner and brighter recycling area housed in the North West of B Block. The section of the building has been equipped with fire sprinkler systems, fire resistant walls and alarms to ensure safety is at an absolute premium.
Once inside the most obvious feature is the brand new Aries 70-A Twin Ram - Fully Automatic Horizontal Baling Machine. If like us, you’re not entirely up to speed with your baling machine systems, be assured it’s a good one, mainly due to how energy efficient it is.
The yellow and blue cardboard squishing monster churns out compacted and wire tied bales weighing in at hefty 400kg each.
As part of our sustainability commitment to all materials having a life beyond its original use these bales are sent to recycling centres where they ultimately end up as recycled products like toilet paper and packaging.
