Castle Brom Toolroom duo give a firsthand account of their first EV experience.
Since December colleagues from all over Castle Bromwich have been making the most of the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Jaguar I-PACE for their first premium EV experience.
Last Friday we caught up with the Castle Bromwich’s Brian Scott and Wayne Greaves fresh from their drive in the 2019 World Car of the Year.
The duo from the Toolroom have been at Castle Bromwich for 30 years a piece and Wayne especially considers himself as a bit of a petrol head.
Neither of them had driven an EV before, so what were there first impressions?
“For me it was both amazing and totally unexpected,” said Wayne. “The performance, ride and quality were all great but it was how it sounded that really surprised me. I love a V8 engine so wasn’t sure how an electric car would compare, but the sound it makes was really cool.
“The whole drive experience definitely put a smile on my face, it was actually really entertaining.”
Brian found himself agreeing with Wayne’s assessment. “I’d go along with what Wayne said, it sounds almost like a spaceship. Though for me the instant speed and acceleration was the thing that stood out most.
“With the plant moving over to produce electric vehicles I’d certainly recommend anyone who hasn’t yet had a go to come and try it out for themselves to see what electric cars are all about.
“It would be well worth your time.”
