Halewood's Dave Parry, IPS Manager and Andy Thomas, BIW Maintenance, recently had a fin-tastic time taking part in the Great Glen Swim Challenge, this event is not for the faint-hearted as it is a colossal 48 miles of swimming from coast to coast across Scotland over three days.
The team of 24 swam in pods of four or five swimmers with a wide range of ages and abilities. Dave and a couple of the more experienced swimmers swam the full length of Loch Linnhe, with other team members swimming different distances. Andy and Dave managed a massive 31 miles just between the two of them!
The team adopted a ‘bubble’ approach, due to coronavirus precautions and anti-virus procedures were adopted, with ensuing post-departure isolation and cleaning.
Dave told us, “it was a really challenging couple of days, but I felt a great sense of achievement after completing the swim and I’m delighted we did, as we’re supporting some fantastic causes.”
