Last Tuesday we welcomed our MOTORVATE charity car winner, An Hour for Others (AHFO), for a terrific VIP tour of Halewood where they got to see their new Land Rover Discovery Sport being built live on the production line in Trim and Final.
An Hour for Others is a Liverpool-based charity which aims to build stronger communities and inspire change by getting individuals and business to come together to support vulnerable people experiencing financial or emotional hardship. It was founded by Kevin Morland and Gill Watkins.
In April, An Hour for Others was unveiled as our MOTORVATE charity car winner, after being put forward for the opportunity by Halewood employee Mark Champion, who is a Group Leader on Door Line.
MOTORVATE is an employee scheme which rewards good attendance, including the chance of making donations to charities. So, by coming to work every day, you are not only helping us to make the best quality cars for our customers - which is key to Refocus - but you are also supporting the incredible work of local charities like An Hour for Others.
Speaking to Team Talk, Gill Watkins, co-founder of the charity, said: “It’s been quite an emotional experience for me and Kevin today, physically seeing the car on the line. It is going to make such a difference to so many vulnerable people in our city. For us, it’s not just a car, it will be a lifeline allowing us to extend our services and do more to support those who need it most. "
Kevin added: “We want to thank everyone at Jaguar Land Rover Halewood for this heart-warming gesture. An Hour for Others is about inspiring change and getting individuals and companies to come together and support vulnerable people in our communities and that is exactly what JLR has done by donating this new car to us.
He added: “We also want to personally thank Mark for putting us forward for this opportunity. Mark does so much for our charity - he is there supporting every one of our events and has even jumped out of planes to raise money for us. So, it’s a real honour to have this special link with JLR Halewood and drive a car which has been donated by the company he works for - thank you.”
Mark said: “Our new purpose is to deliver the exceptional with soul… donating a car to a local charity to support vulnerable people in our region - there is something pretty exceptional about that and everyone at Halewood has played their part in this.
“Coming to work every day, and achieving our attendance targets, gives us the opportunity to support local charities and organisations on our doorsteps. It makes me proud that we can do this.”
MOTORVATE offers monetary and vehicle donations to local community groups and charities. MOTORVATE rewards have now been triggered for Q4 2021/22 which means there is another charity car up for grabs across the UK business and more funding available for local organisations. All employees can apply.
Please complete a donation request form, which are available from the local People Centres, MOTORVATE display boards, Line Managers, TU Representatives, as well as on the People Portal.
