The TechWomen100 Awards annually recognise the impact of individuals, companies and networks that are leading the way for future generations.
Now in their fifth year, the Awards attracted over 1,000 entries in 2022, which was narrowed down to 100 winners, who came together at the prestigious TechWomen100 Awards dinner on 6 December at the QEII Centre in London.
Three of our very own at Jaguar Land Rover were there to receive their awards – Dr Paula Palade, Sophy Tallett and Tamanna Haque. Here, we find out a bit more about our inspiring winners.
Dr Paula Palade, Ethics & Standardisation Manager
Boasting significant academic achievements, including a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Paula is and continues to make a significant impact at Jaguar Land Rover.
She is currently our Ethics & Standardisation Manager but has previously taken on roles which look at ways to enhance the working lives of her colleagues. For example, moving to automation so staff are freed from the strain of high-volume, repetitive tasks, upskill Engineers and technical problem solving, being a 6 Sigma Black Belt.
Among many other achievements, Paula is a BSI delegate, has been recognised by the European Commission since 2015 for her expertise, is a passionate STEM Ambassador (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and Women in Engineering Mentor.
Sophy Tallett, Programme Leader, Electrical
Sophy is now in her first management position at Jaguar Land Rover, operating in the Jaguar team to deliver our world-class ADAS system for our new all-electric fleet of vehicles.
After becoming fascinated with Engineering many years ago, she now finds herself with years of experience through taking on variety of roles in the sector and with a new string to her bow – TechWomen100 award winner!
“It was such a privilege to work delivering our ADAS features on the EVA2 architecture, it came with frustrations passion learning and success,” said Sophy following her award win.
“Telling the world about my work on this project over four years felt so uplifting and gave me this huge sense of pride for me and the team I worked with.
“Winning a spot as TechWomen100 for 2022 has made me think ‘what will I change from today?’
“The answer is that I am not going to shy away from my achievement and swagger with pride, being a visible role model for women around Jaguar Land Rover.”
Tamanna Haque, Lead Data Scientist
Tamanna she followed Jaguar for years, even before working here, and now says that playing her part towards the renaissance of Jaguar as an all-electric luxury brand is a “dream.”
Now years into her time at Jaguar Land Rover she enjoys the ability to shape an EV future and has had experience in analytics and data science as well as retail and financial services.
She has also mentors several women and has recently founded a ‘Women in AI’ group which provides members with technical and soft development opportunities.
Tamanna is now Analytics Lead for our Women in Engineering Committee and externally promotes diversity and inclusion within the automotive industry.
“I’m thrilled to have won the TechWomen100 award this year,” said Tamanna.
“I work as a Lead Data Scientist in Product Engineering, using the connected car and AI to make our products and customer experiences better; I enjoy my role and working with the cars I’ve always loved.
“After years of committing myself towards progressing within data science, from soft, technical and leadership perspectives, I’m now helping others with their data science development too.
“I’m passionate about Jaguar, AI and diversity, and aspire to make an impact in my field both technically and culturally.”
Congratulations to all three of our inspiring winners – we cannot wait to see you go strength-to-strength in helping us to realise our Reimagine strategy and continuing to build an inclusive and diverse team. Find out more information about the TechWomen100 by visiting www.wearetechwomen.com.
