Digital Technology Solutions apprentices get a taste of life at Jaguar Land Rover

Jaguar Land Rover welcomed a group of Digital Technology Solutions apprentices as they got an insight into their course.

Hosted at the Professor Lord Bhattacharya Building, the youngsters were given an overview of the apprenticeship, which has been jointly developed with the University of Warwick. It will focus on the digital skills the business will require in the future.

Each student will learn the core skills, including about cyber risks, infrastructure and network protocols, before choosing one of four pathways to specialise in. 

During their apprenticeship, each candidate will be gaining valuable on the job experience at Jaguar Land Rover, supplemented with time in the classroom.

The group who start in September was welcomed by Graham Thompsett, Jaguar Land Rover’s People Capability Director, who highlighted the importance of developing and nurturing the skills that will become prevalent in the future. 

The apprentices were given a tour of the facility’s electrical workshop, virtual reality room and engineering hall, before being given the opportunity to shine with a coding task. Put into pairs, the apprentices were tasked with building an Android app and testing it on a smartphone.
