Last week Solihull hosted Director of Public Health for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Ruth Tennant at the Centre for Wellbeing. The team gave Ruth a tour of the facilities and she had chance to chat to staff about what the centre currently offers JLR employees.
The Centre for Wellbeing opened in October and is part of the Manufacturing People Transformation to make our site exceptional. The Centre is a one-stop-shop for wellbeing to help our colleagues continue to work with impact, bringing together experts in Mind, Body, and Life to deliver group and individual programmes covering the full breadth of our wellbeing strategy.
There are currently two initial programmes that are run in the centre:
- Functional Restoration Programme (FRP): Work based progressive exercise programme aimed at improving the physical fitness of an employee; and
- Body Read: Improve aspects of wellbeing including weight management, depression/low mood and fatigue.
After visiting, Ruth said:
“It was fantastic to be on site at Lode Lane today to see the Centre for Wellbeing in action and meet the team. It’s great to see such a major employer leading the way and making such a proactive investment in the health and mental well-being of employees. I really look forward to seeing the Centre grow and develop in the future.”
The Centre for Wellbeing team are currently busy creating self-enrolment programmes to launch at the beginning of the New Year. Although the number of available programmes will be small to start with, the suite of options for Solihull employees will grow and continually be updated as the centre matures. Keep an eye out for the hard launch of the Centre, in the New Year!
