The EMC's EBPC has launched a new Post 16 Enrichment programme.
The new initiative, the first of its kind for the centre, has been developed to support sixth form students gain the skills they need for the world of work.
10 students from Moreton Comminity School and Shire Oak Academy took part in the course, which ran across four consecutive afternoons. Students were tasked with managing a project, as well as looking at business behaviours, recruitment and team building activities.
At the end of the course students took part in a mock interview and gave a presentation on their project.
Centre Manager Liz Love said: “We thoroughly enjoy the one day visits we have with school students but really wanted to complete some more detailed work with students around the skills that employers such as Jaguar Land Rover are looking for. Therefore, we decided to create the four week enrichment programme.
“Students told us that they signed up for this new programme to build confidence, identify and improve the skills required by employers and learn more about the world of work. Hopefully we have helped them achieve their objectives!”
