A huge congratulations to Castle Bromwich’s very own super endurance athlete Hugo Mota who completed CELTMAN, Scotland’s extreme triathlon earlier this summer.
Part of the Xtri World Tour, the triathlon featured 250 participants from 38 countries tackling some of the most unforgiving terrain in the Scottish Highlands.
Hugo who had borrowed Castle Bromwich’s stand out orange XF Sportbrake as a support vehicle came in an impressive 15th place in the male race category.
The event is made up of a 3.4km swim cold, jellyfish infested Atlantic waters, a 202km bike ride through windy Highland roads and finally a 42km run over not one but two Munros (Scottish mountains over 914.4 metres).
“I finished the swim strongly coming out of the water in 5th place,” said Hugo. “The cycle proved more difficult with strong winds causing my body temperature to drop and I had to make back ground during the run.
“I wanted to make Castle Brom proud and having the Jaguar as a support car definitely provided extra motivation to get me through my most difficult times,” he continued. “I felt that I still haven’t reach my limit, if there is one. I’m looking forward to my next challenge.”
Hugo won’t have to wait too long as the next event takes place in Italy at the end of August.
Congratulations again Hugo for this herculean effort.
Hugo’s next monster triathlon is the ICON – Livigno Extreme Triathlon - This time he’ll be raising funds for Good Hope Hospital - Visit his JustGiving page www.justgiving.com/extremehugo to show your support.
