£4,766 raised after charity match with cure leukaemia

The St Andrews pitch may be on the mend but the donations keep pouring in as the fundraising total for last month’s Cure Leukaemia charity match crept up towards £4,800.

A Jaguar Land Rover Castle Bromwich XI took on Cure Leukaemia last month in a football match at the home of Birmingham City to raise money for the charity.

More than 20 Castle Brom employees each raised £100 for the charity for a chance to step on to the hallowed turf.  (Ed – we fully recognise the use of the word ‘hallowed’ is subjective).

It’s been a double dose of success for Cure Leukaemia who not only downed the Castle Brom cohort 6-1 on matchday but now also have a bumper cheque to help towards their care and support of blood cancer patients.

Sports Car Facility associate Izzy Farrell, who not only orchestrated the event but also stepped into the manager’s role, said: “It was fantastic to see people coming together and raise such a fantastic amount of money for a wonderful charity.

“We have to thank Birmingham City Football Club as well for being such great hosts to all of us. Everybody had a great day even though my managerial career will probably be short lived after this result.”
