This past year has seen an incredible effort across the Plant to champion Kaizen and has resulted in a total of 200 Kaizens raised for March – which is a brilliant effort, well done everyone!
Now that the plant is back up and running we can now properly recognise the fantastic ideas and achievements from those nominated by each Technology Area for Kaizen of the Month. This past Friday we were able to celebrate this with the Operations Committee for our March winners.
1.Jeremy Highcock (BiW )—Hood Damage Prevention. By improving the repair table being used to inspect parts, Jeremy suggested placing foam patches face down for when the hood is placed for inspection, it has reduced damage significantly saving £78.00 per hood.
2.Kevin Hamill (T&PPG) - (Represented by David Attwood) - Protective Wrapping Recycling is part of cost saving. The foam material is used to protect top and bottom blanks, this is now reused and cut to size for usage. It has helped with waste of scrap / rework and waste of inventory.
3.Tommy Westhead (T&F)—MHEV Fuel Tank. Tommy came up with the idea to move point of fit location, by doing so it has saved associates walking distance to retrieve fuel tank they use the most and this has improved downtime during shift, saving on cost due to less stoppages throughout the day.
