Brilliant at the Basics is a component of IPS essentials – a way we can measure ourselves as a team that we are delivering on our key metrics, and building quality, world-beating, luxury vehicles for our customers.
Over the last month, the team in Solihull's Final Assembly 1 has been using the Brilliant at the Basics framework to aid them in Refocusing their quality and performance – scoring their first-ever 100% score.
FA1 Group Leader Mahir Sadic and IPS Coach, Luke Hawthorn have played a big part in getting FA1 brilliant at the basics. Tasked by the FA1 management team, Mahir has been focusing primarily on making transformations in FA1, all around IPS Brilliant at the Basics.
Mahir said, “It’s been a mindset shift to allow me to focus all of my time towards helping teams in FA1 to improve their IPS score. Each work group has done the hard work themselves, and it’s great to see them focusing on standardised working and team engagement. Thank you to everyone for getting involved and coming together as one team.”
In a first-ever, Zone 7 has scored FA1’s first 100% brilliant at the basics score, with FA1 increasing its average score to over 90%.
IPS Coach Luke has supported Mahir to ensure teams have been getting the right guidance. “It’s been heart-warming to see FA1 take the initiative to improve and dedicate time to ensure they are brilliant at the basics. It has a direct impact on quality, engagement, and performance, and I’d urge every team to make sure they are running assessments and putting plans in place to continuously improve”, Luke explained.
Errol Bell, FA1 Manufacturing Manager commented, “I want to thank every individual member of the FA1 team for helping us focus on becoming brilliant at the basics. Whether it’s been completing your process to the correct standard (standardised work) or completing paperwork on your Work Group Cube. It all goes a long way to helping us transform our business, in particular our quality.”
