The 2017/18 Graduate Innovation Challenge began in September with 60 small cross-functional teams.
The brief was simple - come up with a new, viable and unique idea that could be incorporated into the business within the next five years. Several months and many late nights later and we are now down to the final six teams. These remaining teams have made it through four rounds of judging including Dragons Den style pitches and are now ready to wow the judges and audience at the final held at Warwick University on Thursday 15 February.
The finalists are:
Fen End: AR in Build Process
Halewood: Living Spaces
Goodwood: In Car Visual Translation
XK: Robo Vacuum
Graz: Colour Changing Car
“The wide range of ideas that we have in the final have really showcased the teams creativity and innovation” said Charlotte Cooper, one of the Graduate Innovation Challenge organisers. She then went on to say that the caliber of ideas this year has exceeded expectations and that all the teams have worked incredibly hard. The six judges on the panel will be scoring the projects on numerous aspects including quality of business model, team collaboration and potential impact.
The winning team will not only be able to see their own unique idea become a reality but also, as a reward, be given the opportunity to experience an all expenses paid trip to one of this year’s European Formula E races where they can cheer on Jaguar’s two driver’s Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr.
The final kicks off at 12:30 and runs until 4:30. Everyone is encouraged to come along enjoy some coffee and cake, support the teams and see the incredible ideas that the newest additions to Jaguar Land Rover have carefully constructed. The address is: IDL Building, University of Warwick, Coventry, CV4 7AL. For more information and a map of the location see the website.
