The Halewood Grand Designs project is helping employees “come together” from all different parts of our plant to give it a DIY make-over and summer spruce- Beatles style!
This week, we spoke with Ritchie Cunningham, a flag administrator in Plant Quality, who has recreated the iconic Beatles Abbey Road album cover, in the new Press Shop outdoor rest area.
Ritchie, who has a degree in Illustration from Wolverhampton University, spent four days hand painting the marvellous mural, which forms part of a new Fab Four inspired rest area.
The rest area features quirky hand-made furniture, including a yellow submarine chair, built by our talented DIY volunteers.
Ritchie said: “I’ve loved being part in the Grand Designs project as it’s given me the opportunity to use my art skills- something I didn’t think I would get to do at work, and also the chance to meet new people from other parts of the factory.
“I feel really proud to see the mural being enjoyed in the new rest area and have had such lovely comments from the Press Shop team who are delighted with the drawing.
He added: “I must have done a good job as I’ve already been asked to dust off my paint brushes again and am starting work on a Star Wars mural next week in the CAL area.”
