The Great Line Manager programme has reached over 4,000 managers across our global business, a great achievement reaching over 20 different countries.
The formal part of the Great Line Manager programme finished at the end of 2019, however the informal part continues. Each of our managers plays a role in keeping their Great Line Manager learnings alive by continuing to practice the techniques, applying the tools and making time to learn and reflect.
What difference has GLM had on you?
‘Because I took the feedback from my people and opened up discussions on the issues raised, my colleague has gained more confidence in our relationship and interactions. I have gained more support and openness particularly on challenging matters’
‘The decision tree tool matrix was really useful for me, which I went through with a team member to help empower them for certain projects & decisions, balancing this with my expectation of management input for other decisions. This has been really successful.’
'We were having some issues with members of the team where we couldn't connect or get them motivated, doing the values exercise with them allowed a better understanding for them and me of how to approach the conversation so that they did connect and feel motivated, ultimately they felt empowered and responsible to deliver’
‘Networking during the course opened up dialogue with parts of the business I never touch, the understanding of their pressures and challenges has helped me understand more in my role’
‘After talking through the SCARF model with my team. One of my direct reports has actively fed back to me how he finds it really helpful in the conversations he has with his peers day to day.’
We must continue to learn and grow so that our business can continue to evolve.
