Last week the Halewood Education Centre hosted two Pre-Apprenticeship days for a selection of local schools. The schools sent students who were interested in applying for a Jaguar Land Rover apprenticeship and who met the necessary criteria.
A total of 60 students joined us across the two days, where we shared information about the JLR Apprenticeship Programme. We also showed them up close, how a modern, lean, manufacturing process works.
There was lots going on throughout the day, including –
A factory tour of the Halewood production process
Interview skills workshop
CV writing workshop
Manual Dexterity Pedal Build Test
Polydron Buggy Build Challenge
Once again, the Halewood Training Team were a great support as some of our current apprentices came along to help with the tours and activities. They also chatted with the students throughout the day sharing their own experiences which the students found really beneficial.
A huge vote of thanks then to the apprentices who assisted:
Danielle Flynn, Mark Hughes, Ben Clucas, James Buckley, Ryan Jones, Jordan Crawford
Also a big thank you to Sue, Sarah and the rest of the NWTC team for allowing them to attend.
Here's what the students had to say -
“It was a great trip, I enjoyed the tour as well as the activities, I found out a lot about the apprenticeships and the company which I am considering” - Abbie Grundy
“I enjoyed the trip and learnt a lot about the apprenticeships and the company as a whole .This trip has made me more interested to find more out and maybe progress on to an apprenticeship after 6th form” - Katie Ward
