On Friday (11 Oct) we celebrated National Coming Out Day in the UK. This annual event is an important date for the LGBT+ community as it highlights the fact that many people still need to find the courage and confidence just to tell others who they really are.
In Halewood we proudly supported #NationalComingOutDay with our plant director and JLR PRIDE ambassador Trevor Leeks flying the flag!
Nigel Blenkinsop, Director, Company Quality & Automotive Safety Director and JLR Pride Champion said:
“Our business is proud to promote diversity and inclusivity and ensure every colleague feels welcome. I am proud to play my part in driving a diverse and open culture. Each of us has a responsibility for making sure we all feel welcome at work and can be transparent with one another. An open and transparent environment will have a positive effect on our daily experience which will impact our business performance as well.”
For the second year running, the JLR PRIDE network has marked National Coming Out Day in a number of ways, most visibly by flying the rainbow flag across our UK sites. Not only is this a great recognition of what the JLR PRIDE network has achieved; it also shows that Jaguar Land Rover is committed to supporting and celebrating a diverse workforce.
If you've celebrated the day in your team, supported your colleagues or helped others to understand why National Coming Out Day is important to you, please share your stories or pictures using #JLRPRIDE.
