As we look ahead at Halewood one of the exciting changes since we’ve returned is our Evoque and Discovery Sport are now available with plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technology.
This is great news for us and our customers but what do our PHEV cars feel like? Michael Hughes, Plant Quality Manager, told us “It’s important for us to get feedback from outside of the core PHEV program, so we made our PHEV training vehicle available for some colleagues to test it out.”
As you can see from the quotes below, they were not disappointed:
“This was the first time I have ever driven a PHEV. I was really impressed by the performance of the vehicle whether running on battery or the internal combustion engine. The driving experience under both power systems was great and is a credit to the engineering behind this car. This car will sell, it is ideal for a local commute on battery yet has the internal combustion engine for travelling a greater distance.”
“Great driving experience, the performance of the powertrain system is brilliant. The range on the car enabled me to get to and from work on single charge running on the battery alone, and it’s very convenient to be able to top up the battery using a standard 3 pin plug. I’m sure the PHEV models will be well received by our customers, a big step forward for our Halewood Evoque and Discovery sport.”
“A brilliant package which defies belief. The powertrain is so refined, using the E drive to launch off, then undetectably bringing in the petrol engine - it's magic by any other description!”
This is great feedback and we can’t wait to hear what our customers think!
