Neil Plews has organised numerous employee fundraising events for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital but this Christmas, with large scale group fundraising events being cancelled due to Coronavirus, Neil’s support for the hospital is taking on a different route.
Instead of a collection, Neil and team mate Marc Mellows are pledging to walk/cycle 1,000 miles in a team of ten to help raise money for Alder Hey’s 7 in 10 Children campaign. And they are looking for team mates!
Instead of a collection, Neil and team mate Marc Mellows are pledging to walk/cycle 1,000 miles in a team of ten to help raise money for Alder Hey’s 7 in 10 Children campaign. As part of this campaign, the hospital is asking people to help it cover a distance of one million miles so it can raise £3m in sponsorship.
Speaking about the fundraising challenge, Neil said: “7 out of 10 young children and young people who experience a mental health condition have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age, which is why this campaign is so important- especially with all that’s happened this year.
“The proceeds will help to enhance inpatient and community mental health services at the hospital and will allow more children to access the treatment they need at the time they need it which is essential.
