We're very proud of our TIC teams here in Halewood and over the next few weeks as we lead up to the Regional Convention we'll be spending a bit of time with each of the eight teams that will be representing Halewood. Lets find out what makes them TIC(k)...
Who’s in the circle?
Kim Challis, Dave Ellison, Chris Wallace, Kev Kelly, Andy Stockton (aka. Stocko)
What area do you all work in?
We are all on X shift and are made up of a BIW Clerk, Framing Group Leader and three lads who work on the production line.
How did you come up with the team name?
We wanted to have an ‘Ebay’ style catalogue where associates could browse, ‘CLICK’ on the item they require and then ‘COLLECT’. This is where we got the idea for ‘Click & Collect’.
What is your project all about?
We have come up with a cost effective & waste reducing process to allow unused items to be reused across the plant by creating a new digital Red Tag system. Using a live Office365 Document you can upload images of items you no longer require such at tables, floor matting, racks etc. This can then be viewed across the plant so should another area require items they can be reused instead of buying new ones. With regards to the old line, our idea has managed to reduce scrap/waste by almost 100% and make a cost saving of just over £36k in an eight month period.
What’s the best thing about TIC?Seeing what was once just an idea on a piece of paper come to life and seeing it succeed. We’ve done everything from start to finish ourselves, from making suggestions to getting our hands dirty and getting our paint brushes out. We’ve had a laugh along the way and it goes without saying the getting through to the Regional Convention was a great feeling and something we are all proud of.
If your circle was a famous team from a movie or TV series who would you be and why?
The Inbetweeners because our team is full of humour, awkward moments and youth ;)
