Headbangers, from the EMC’s Machining Hall have been named as one of only five winners at this year’s Team Improvement Circle finals.
The team consisting of Alex Millington, Manny Singh, Gordon Laird, Withmar Timerlake and Luke Freeman, competed against 39 other teams from across the business at the annual UK Regional TIC Convention at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon.
In addition to Headbangers, 9 other teams from the EMC took part in the finals, having secured a spot to present at the EMC Local Convention earlier in the year.
The five winning teams now get the opportunity to present their ideas and innovations at the Global TIC Showcase in Pune, India, in October.
Headbangers aimed to save cost by re-using head sub-assemblies (HAS) from strip back engines pre-oil fill. They implemented a new process and amended the Work Element Sheet, (WES), to hold and quarantine removed HSAs before inspection.
The TIC implemented a new process and ensures that good heads were re-used and returned to lineside, improving cost and waste management.
Team Improvement Circle will launch again on Monday 18 September. View information and films from this year’s event at Team Improvement Circle 2017.
