HOW WE GIVE THE WARMEST OF WELCOMES TO OUR NEW PRODUCT ENGINEERING STARTERS

Take a look behind the scenes at what we do to give new starters an experience they won’t forget and how hiring managers can get involved.

Since last summer, we have been hosting a monthly induction event for all new starters in Product Engineering. These events have been created to give new starters a chance to 'live the exceptional with soul' and a JLR experience they won’t forget on their first day.

Our new starter induction has been designed to cover employees of all grades and is inclusive to Gaydon, Whitley, Solihull, Browns Lane, Warwick and Warwick Uni sites. If your not based in the UK, we'll share more detail on local induction events for you soon.

The inductions are held on the first Monday of each month, but this doesn’t mark the first day for a new starter. Accommodations have been made to ensure by holding a morning event for day one starters and a second event in the afternoon for others who have been here for a bit longer, so no one misses out on the experience.

We’re so pleased that due to the popularity of the Induction events, hiring managers  have been contacting our team directly to add their new starters on. This is fantastic and we would encourage anyone who has a new starter joining in the future to contact us too (our contact details are at the bottom of the page).

The induction sessions include the following:

• Picking up their CDSID passes and car park badges.
• Receiving a welcome goodie pack and mingling with other new starters with refreshments.
• A fun Icebreaker to help everyone involved make connections and network early.
• An insightful corporate presentation delivered by a Product Engineering First-Line member to help show what Jaguar Land Rover is all about.
• Three site tours around Gaydon to see different areas of the business 

Our team take care of all the above, along with the logistics of sending out communications to new starters before the event to confirm location and timings.

Managers receive an email with this information including where and when to pick up their new team members after the induction, meaning you only need to arrange arrival times for new starters if they don’t start on the first Monday of the month.

This also assists hiring managers in ensuring their starter will get the experience they deserve on their first day and to feel at ease plus knowing their passes have been provided and no ordering is required. This combined with the new process of the hiring manager ordering IT equipment for their new starter via the link that is sent (once the starter has fully onboarded ) making the overall process easier and quicker for the hiring manager, freeing up your time for engineering.
