There is an incredible spirit amongst our people at Halewood and we want to celebrate the great work they are doing, over the next few weeks in On Track and on our Facebook page (@JLRHalewood) we will be introducing our Halewood Heroes – those that are currently going above and beyond in these unprecedented times.
We will share their stories in On Track and we will be introducing #FEELGOODFRIDAY on our Facebook page to give our incredible colleagues a well-deserved shout out! If you’d like to share any stories, give a colleague a virtual pat on the back or celebrate a quick win (maybe you conquered the maths lesson this week) then just email us at Halewood@jaguarlandrover.com or send us a DM on Facebook! David registered to be an NHS Volunteer Responder within minutes of the national request going live. Last weekend, he got assigned his first task.
David said: “I had my first call out for an elderly man who had underlying health conditions and was told to self-isolate.
“He suffers from a throat condition so has been prescribed meal replacement shakes, however, he wasn’t allocated enough on his last prescription which meant he didn’t have enough to last him over the weekend.
“The day I was called in to help was a Sunday, when his pharmacy was closed and he didn’t have any shakes left. He also had no money and couldn’t get to a credit union.
“I responded to his request on the NHS Volunteer App and went straight to see if I could help. I was able to go and get some money out for him and do buy him some soup, bread and milk which he was able to eat in the absence of his shakes. I also returned to the pharmacy the next day to collect and deliver his new prescription.”
Commenting on why he chose to volunteer, David, said: “I decided to help as I knew I had time on my hands with being off work and wanted to make a difference. I’d like to think if it was myself or my family in a similar situation in the future, that others would do the same. I’m glad I was able to help the elderly gentleman so he didn’t go hungry or go without.”
Fantastic work David. All of your team mates at Halewood are incredibly proud of your charitable efforts. If you are volunteering like David, please keep us updated on your activities by emailing takepart@jaguarlandrover.com
