Two of Halewood’s finest football teams recently got together for a 90 minute exhibition match at the Jaguar Land Rover Social Club. The game was in aid of our COTY, Charlie’s Chance Foundation and they managed to raise an impressive £285!
The teams where managed by Daniel Smith (Trim CME) and Dave Crayden (BIW CME). It was a competitive game and the squads from T&F & BiW played a high scoring game which ended with T&F victorious with a score of 5-4.
T&F opened up the scoring with two goals scored in quick succession, but BIW had a tremendous free-kick scored by Connor Mchugh, right into the top corner. The free transfer of Anthonie Ang from BiW to T&F came back to haunt BiW as he scored a hat-trick along with goals from Rob Simmel and Alan Burgess, with Alans goal assisted by Anthonie Ang. BiW’s goal keeper made a decision to play up front for the last 25 mins and scored two great goals, lobbing the T&F keeper twice, BIW’s other goal scorer was Dave Williamson.
A special thanks to Joseph Pettitt for refereeing the match. Joe is an official FA referee who gave his free time to come and referee the match and also thanks to the Jaguar Sports and Social club for allowing the teams to use their facilities for free.
Finally the JLR man of the match award (a cup of coffee from the Pit Stop), goes to Anthonie Ang for his three goals and one assist.
Thank you to everyone that took part – they are already gearing up for the rematch!
