A huge congratulations to Kim Challis, Body in White Production Clerk on A shift, who has been crowned Employee of the Month, for the incredible work she did setting up a lateral flow testing station for her colleagues working on the late shift.
The satellite station, which is located in the clerk’s office in BIW, ensured there was a clear and safe process and environment for late shift employees’ taking a lateral flow test- due to the main Halewood testing centre temporarily closing early towards the end of last year- ahead of shift change over.
As well as set up a station, Kim took safety courses and worked with the Kaizen team to get arrows put on the floor so employees could queue at a safe 2m distance. She also linked up with our on-site services provider, Leadec, who provided a specialist waste bin and conducted a deep clean of the area if any positive cases were detected.
Kim said: “For me, it’s important to make my teammates feel as safe as possible. With the main testing centre temporarily closing early towards the end of last year- I didn’t want this to affect the morale of those colleagues working on the late shift.
“The satellite station ensured they had (and still have) a designated area, where they can do their tests and wait - without making contact with any other colleagues.
Kim added: “We have tested 30 people and had six positive cases but the way the station is set up, it meant those positive employees could exit from the door behind the office and vacate the premises without stepping foot onto the Shop Floor.
Fantastic work Kim- well done!
