Jaguar Land Rover models are the only cars immune to keyless entry attacks

Jaguar and Land Rover have proven their vehicle security credentials by being the only manufacturers to withstand keyless entry attacks.

The Jaguar E-PACE, I-PACE, Range Rover, and Land Rover Discovery were the only cars out of 273 tested by Europe’s largest automobile club ADAC and the Austrian ÖAMTC that couldn’t be driven away in their keyless go experiment.

By using the favoured technique by criminals, ADAC specialists used range extenders to test how vulnerable each vehicle is to this form of attack, and whether they could be opened and driven away.

The list of vehicles tested includes a number of vehicles recently introduced into the market including the BMW 8 Series, Seat Tarraco and Audi A7.

ADAC commended Jaguar Land Rover for solving the issue that continues to plague car owners, for its use of ultra-wide-bandwidth (UWB) computer chips.

The technology used on all the latest Jaguars and Land Rovers, measures the time it takes for the signal to be sent from the key to the car with greater precision to determine the distance. If the system deems it to be too far, the vehicle stops responding.

Last year, ADAC tested the keyless systems of more than 180 vehicles, of which only the Discovery was immune to the attack.
