Guess who’s, back, back again… That’s right Kaizen of the Month is back! The recent planned stops to production have meant we are still playing ‘Kaizen catch up’ with our monthly recognition events but last week we welcomed our jubilant June winner.
This time it was the turn of MP&L’s Christopher Power who was crowned ‘King of the Kaizens’ after he created a new scanner storage unit for the department out of repurposed trunking and metal.
Chris cut slots into the trunking to create new racks so now each operator now has their own unique location for the scanners.
Chris said: “Everybody knows exactly where their scanners are now and we haven’t lost or damaged a single one since! We are also hoping to implement this standard into other areas.
He added: “If we had went externally to get new racks in, we would have spent in the region of £3,000 each and in our five areas, this would have cost the business £15,000.”
Adopting a responsible spend mindset and pushing cost efficiencies through raising a Kazien is a key way that employees can play their part in Refocus transformation, so we are the strongest position to rollout the electric architectures earmarked for our plant.
Great work Chris and a huge congratulations to Jamie Stark, from Body in White, who placed second and Michael McDonald from Plant Quality who came third in June’s monthly Kaizen recognition event.
