Columba Racing, a team of students from Gymnasium in Košice, Slovakia have won the Slovakian final of the 4x4 in Schools Challenge.
The educational challenges test the engineering, marketing and management skills of the future generation of engineering leaders. The winning team from Gymnasium in Košice, will now represent Slovakia in Land Rover 4x4 in Schools World Final in Abu Dhabi that takes place in December.
The Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge is a project-based education programme for teams of up to six students aged 11-18 who design, test and build scale-model remote control vehicles. The radio-controlled cars tackle rocks and water on a racetrack with a remote-controlled model of the off-road vehicle. In addition to excellent driving characteristics, the cars have to react acoustically to the tilting of the vehicle above a certain limit and to compete in the race course across various obstacles like water channel or steep uphill and downhill sections. Land Rover 4x4 in Schools requires each team to handle management, marketing and financial issues as well as preparing & communicating their presentation and marketing activity plan.
Second place was awarded to ARTTECH from DSA Polytechnical High School at Novozámocká street in Nitre and the third place to Adler motors from ElectroTechnical High School of Karol Adler in Bratislava.
