The 25th Goodwood Festival of Speed (FoS) kicks off this week (Thursday) with both Land Rover and Jaguar joining in the festivities with both brands each celebrating significant milestones.
To acknowledge the brand’s 70th anniversary, 70 Land Rovers
from across the seven decades, spanning every model and including numerous
special editions and conversions, will take the famous Goodwood hillclimb on Thursday.
Leading the Land Rover parade of vehicles will be the first
pre-production prototype HUE 166, lovingly known as Huey, with each generation
of Land Rover, Range Rover, Freelander and Discovery all on display. Also in
attendance will be a handful Land Rover military vehicles, first responder
vehicles, the one millionth Discovery and Joe and Bob Ives’ Camel Trophy 110 vehicle.
The V8 Defender is also in attendance travelling up the hill
twice a day as part of the ‘First Glance’ convoy, while stunt-driver Terry
Grant hopes to take the ‘Fastest Mile on Two Wheels’ title behind the wheel of
the Range Rover Sport SVR. Meanwhile the Jaguar F-PACE SVR will make its
dynamic UK debut alongside the 600PS XE SV Project 8 and Invictus GT4 F-TYPE
SVR racing car.
On the stand at the Festival of Speed will be the
all-electric I-PACE, the super luxurious Range Rover SV Coupé and the XJ50 –
designed to celebrate 50 years of the iconic XJ saloon. There will also be a host
of experiential activities for visitors to enjoy including being drifted in
F-TYPE, tackling Land Rover’s off-road obstacle course, and for younger guests
a chance to put mini electric Defenders through its paces.
Just for FoS, Jaguar and Land Rover has teamed up with Top Trumps to release an exclusive iPhone and Android app for visitors to play against each other to win three prizes, including a trip for two to the Ice Drive Academy in Sweden, a year’s membership to a David Lloyd Club for two or £200 to spend at a Jaguar Land Rover boutique.
