Land Rover Series I returns to Barcelona 70 years after its first appearance
Jaguar Land Rover
Seventy years ago Land Rover showcased the Series I at Barcelona’s Exhibition Fair keen to exhibit its new vehicle which would later revolutionise the automotive world.
The car on display in 1948 was the third car to roll off the production line at Solihull and is currently the oldest privately owned Land Rover.
Current owner Tim Dines took Series I No.3 back to Catalonia so it could be photographed in the same place seven decades on from where it was originally unveiled to the press.
A gravel track between the Barcelona’s neighbourhoods of Vallvidriera and Tibidabo was chosen to host a dynamic drive during the fair, and 70 years on it was the venue for a special convoy of 20 Series I Land Rovers to mark the special occasion.
