Land Rover has revealed the all-new, limited run, luxurious Range Rover SV Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show.
The coupe-shaped Range Rover will be hand-assembled at the
SVO Technical Centre in the UK - a first for Range Rover.
With only 999
examples being made, each will be configured to a client’s personal
specification, with 24 standard body colours, three choices of wood veneer and
a range of interior leather colour combinations. Not to mention the unique
variations the SVO division can create for those looking for a truly unique
SUV.
Unlike the standard Range Rover and SVAutobiography, it
comes with a coupe profile including a sloping roofline, while the two
power-close frameless doors complement the SV coupe’s purity of line, giving
this Range Rover not only beautiful proportions but also a powerful stance.
Land Rover’s Chief Design Officer Gerry McGovern said: “The
Range Rover SV Coupe is a celebration of the Range Rover bloodline. With a
dramatic two-door silhouette, this breath-taking four-seat coupe alludes its
unique heritage while being thoroughly modern and contemporary.”
Powering the SV Coupe is a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrolengine producing 557bhp and 516lb ft of torque, which means it is capable of
reaching 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds and powering onto 165mph.
The suspension has been lowered by eight millimetres over
the standard Range Rover to give the luxury coupe SUV a more driver
focussed-edge, but don’t think for one moment that it has lost any of its
all-terrain ability with the SV Coupe still able to venture off-road, wade to
depths of 900mm and tow a maximum of 3.5 tonnes.
Mark Stanton, Special Vehicle Operations Director, said: “As
you’d expect from Range Rover, the engineering integrity in SV Coupe is more
than skin deep. This is a meticulously honed vehicle that’s designed for SV
clients who love driving.”
John Edwards, Land Rover Special Operations Managing
Director, said: “The introduction of the new SV Coupe brings a new level of
individual expression to the Range Rover portfolio and builds on the success of
Special Vehicle Operations’ existing bespoke Range Rover programme. Feedback
from SV clients who have already seen the vehicle in confidential commissioning
sessions has been overwhelmingly positive.”
The Range Rover SV Coupe is first of many large coupe shaped
SUVs set to join the market including the BMW X8 and Audi Q8 with Bentley and
Porsche also toying with building coupe versions of the Bentayga and Cayenne,
with only the Lamborghini Urus close to matching it for stature and
performance.
