We recently had the pleasure of meeting Philip and Sharon Spears who were visiting Halewood to see their new Landmark Edition Red Evoque been built. We met them in the Experience Centre as they were busy checking out some of our doggy coats and talking about “fatty” which immediately got us intrigued…
The couple had made the journey from Birmingham where they live very close to our Castle Bromwich site. They already own a Grey Evoque, two old Rovers 75 and one of the last MG TF’s that came off the line. So you could say they love their cars, though when we mentioned this the accusing look Sharon gave Philip made us think he may be the driving force behind this extensive collection!
After they ordered their car they had a little time to make changes and add extras which Sharon told us was dangerous in Philip’s hands! He couldn’t help but add a few extras and then spent a few days winding Sharon up telling her he had changed the car colour from red to blue. Though Sharon wasn’t falling for it and told him she loves JLR cars so much that it doesn’t really matter what colour they are!
The couple told us they chose Land Rover because it’s a prestigious British brand that is built in the UK – which is really important to them and it’s a product they are really proud to own. They were also given the opportunity to see if their dogs could fit in the car at the dealership - which was a concern following a recent run-in with a stranger. Sharon explained: “My dogs like to travel in style in our current Evoque but when they aren’t being chauffeured around you can usually find me walking them. On a recent walk however I was shocked when I suddenly heard a man shout over hey fatty! I looked over thinking what a cheek, only to realise he was talking to my dog! I just shouted back “he’s big boned!” Thankfully the “car fitting” was a tail-wagging success and in spite of the big bones there was plenty of room.
Sharon and Philip are planning on many adventures in their new car with their doggy brood but they also have another big life adventure coming up – becoming foster parents! They are busy decorating the house at the moment in readiness and they told us their current Evoque even managed to help with the decorating – which is something we weren’t expecting to hear! At the beginning of the year they had some really bad snow and the decorator just couldn’t make it safely to them in his car – so they had no problem jumping in their Evoque to go and pick him up! They were weaving in and out of traffic just fine as everyone else was struggling which they were very chuffed with and is just another reason they love JLR cars so much!
We wish them the very best of luck with everything and hope they have lots of family adventures in their new Evoque!
