Jaguar Land Rover
Panasonic Jaguar Racing driver Mitch Evans smashed the electric car record in the I-TYPE 2 Formula E car at the Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb, Worcestershire.
The New Zealander broke the course record by 6.84 seconds as
he drove the Jaguar race car on its UK dynamic debut up the historic hill climb
clocking a time of 30.46 seconds.
Mitch was elated at the achievement and thanked the UK
Formula E fans for such a warm welcome, adding: “It was a great honour to drive
the Jaguar I-TYPE 2 at such a historic venue, and the whole team was elated
with the record time we managed to achieve.
“I’m proud to have moved the class-best result a step
further towards a potential pure electric outright hill record in the future.”
Antony Harper, Chairman of the Midland Automobile Club said
he was proud to see Shelsley Walsh host the I-TYPE 2’s UK debut and hopes to
see the team return to beat its new record of 30.46 seconds.
He added: “In 113 years of Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb
history, we have never seen a more advanced electric vehicle take to the
course, so it was a thrill to see the Jaguar I-TYPE 2 charge up the hill and
secure a new course record under electric power.”
