This week marks National Apprenticeship Week in the UK- a week-long celebration which aims to showcase the incredible impact apprenticeships can have on businesses like ours, communities and local economies.
We took this opportunity to reach out to some of our Halewood apprentices to share their experiences of working at our plant and their hopes for the future.
Jack Gynane
Jack is a third year Maintenance Apprentice who works in Trim & Final. You may recognise Jack as he was one of our “Halewood Heroes” who used his free time last year, whilst his apprenticeship was on hold during the first national lockdown, to make thousands of protective visors and ear relievers for frontline NHS staff.
Talking about his apprenticeship, Jack said: “I’ve always loved fixing things and used to help my dad with his car when I was growing up. I was never happier than when I had a tool in my hand which is why an apprenticeship was the perfect route for me to take.
“I’ve learnt so much at Halewood over the last three years and am so glad that I’m able to do something I enjoy- I’m not sure everyone could say that about their job! I've thoroughly enjoyed my experience as an apprentice for Jaguar Land Rover and am looking forward to many years to come with my role here.”
Adam Frodsham
Adam is a third year Engineering Apprentice, who also works in Trim & Final. He said: “Like Jack, I’ve really enjoyed my apprenticeship. I am only in my third year but have gained valuable skills and knowledge and look forward to taking on more responsibilities in the future and becoming a valuable part of the team at Halewood.
When asked about learning during the pandemic, Adam said: “It’s been a challenge but the apprenticeship team have ensured we have access to the best support for our studies. Distance learning takes a while to adapt to but efficient time management and planning helps significantly and they have helped us with this.
Asked if he had any advice for people keen to enrol on the JLR National Apprenticeship scheme, Adam, said “Ensure you research the goals and ideals of Jaguar Land Rover as having the knowledge of the current state and direction of the company will really help you during the interview process.”
Great advice Adam and keep up the great work both!
