After the Defender reveal, our team in Nitra is continuing to celebrate the special momentum of becoming the new manufacturing home of Land Rover's icon.
But what kind of celebration would it be without inviting a few extra guests?
Last Saturday, our employees, their families and friends joined the open day, offering them all the opportunity to spend six hours creating special moments.
Neither rain nor chilly weather could stop more than 3,600 visitors coming to Nitra.
“I was so excited when I learned about the Open Day and am so proud to show my wife and kids my work place,” said Jozef from Trim & Final. “We remember when the plant was a meadow, so it is such a special experience for them to see it now.”
The entire area had been divided into three zones: Explore, Enjoy and Play. Without no doubt, it was the new Defender installed side by side with Discovery that was catching everyone’s eye.
Holding in their hands a map showing all the activity stops and details of the plant tour routes, Jozef’s family left to explore the plant and all the attractions installed outside and inside.
As well as the new products on show, visitors could also admire a special collection of cars brought by the Land Rover Owners Club. Some of its members had spent almost a night travelling from Hungary to Nitra, excited to show off their loved cars to our people and having a chance to see how we build our new models at the our plant.
The highlights of the open day were the three plant tours with each tour path offering the chance to learn about the production process with guides present along the route to explain more about specific areas. One popular tour stop was Body In White, where visitors were able to experience almost 700 robots in operation.
Alongside our employees and their guests, suppliers also joined in too, ABB provided a robot which signed a greeting card for the visitors and KOSIT the Nitra waste management company, showed the people how we can work together to protect environment.
It was a massive effort to turn Trim & Final, BIW, Quality and the administrative building into the big entertainment area. It’s not every day, you see a big yellow giraffe or flying swam in the manufacturing centre!
Kids enjoyed an activity trail, including face painting, car painting and plenty of other fun zones too. At each zone they could collect stickers that they could later exchange for sweets, which put a lot of smiles on small faces.
It wasn’t only the kids that had chance to win though, a special quiz and competition for the adult visitors were available too.
“The open Day was a very special day, full of positive emotions and passion for our plant. I think, it was a huge success and also a fantastic example how great we can be, working cross-functionally, coordinated and dedicated to the goal we have ahead of us.”
