A unique Land Rover Defender Works V8 is taking centre-stage in Selfridges’ flagship store in London.
The special edition vehicle, which was dismantled and
rebuilt bolt-by-bolt, forms part of a permanent display in the new ‘Designer
Street’ area of the Oxford Street department store.
Having lifted a rolling chassis through the first floor
window of Selfridges, a team of Land Rover Classic technicians spent four days
rebuilding this one-off Works V8 Defender in full-view of the passing public.
Sebastian Manes, Selfridges’ Buying and Merchandising
Director, said: “The Defender will act as a platform for our art and fashion
partners and is a key feature within this dynamic space.”
Jaguar Land Rover Classic Director, Tim Hannig, said
everything on this car has been created at the Classic Works facility in
Coventry, with more than 930 hours of craftsmanship required to transform a
Defender 110 Pick Up into the custom-made Selfridges Edition Works V8.
“This may be the most quickly-assembled one-off Defender in
the world,” he adds. “But it will be on display at Selfridges in London long
enough for customers to enjoy.”
The Selfridges’ Defender features a number of unique
elements, including a branded hood in trademark yellow, bronze green paintwork
and retro-style seats with custom stitching.
