Last week we crowned our Employee of the Month for May, which in a Halewood first, went to a whopping 22 colleagues!
It was our Grand Designs team who took home the crown for their pioneering interiors project, which has seen them give our factory an uplifting make-over and summer spruce.
Over the past few months, their team of volunteers have helped to revamp Halewood’s indoor and outdoor rest areas, creating lots of fantastic furniture from sustainable scrap materials found on site- which we would normally pay a supplier to remove and recycle on our behalf!
The work that has been delivered by the team has been endless; from building rooftop gardens, sensory tables, benches for local veteran’s associations to designing Beatles and Star Wars inspired murals- the list goes on and on.
John Williams, who is project lead for Grand Designs, said: “I’ll be retiring next year after nearly 35 years of service, but I can hand on my heart say- this has been one of the highlights of my career at Halewood.
“It’s been a real joy to work with our volunteers who have embraced the opportunity to do something a bit different to working on the line by brushing up on their DIY skills.
The level of talent we have in our workforce is unbelievable and this project has brought that to the forefront. Hopefully what we have achieved is just the start and I’m really looking forward to seeing how we can grow the project further- so watch this space.”
Social distancing restrictions and planned stops to production has meant we are running a few months behind on our Employee of the Month recognition events but we will be covering our June to August winners in Team Talk over the next few weeks- so stay tuned!
