Last week, Executive Director, Manufacturing, Grant McPherson, visited Halewood Operations and was treated to a special welcome by our resident star baker, Lizzie Acker, who reached the quarter final of this year’s Great British Bake Off!
Lizzie, who works in the Halewood Paint Shop and took part in TIC in 2019, presented Grant with a special continuous improvement themed cake which featured a TIC logo made from meringue and was hand decorated with edible crafty cogs to represent the Innovation Challenge.
Grant revealed to Lizzie that his wife is a huge fan of The Great British Bake Off and insisted he watched every one of her episodes and had been blown away by her incredible seven-week stint on the nation’s favourite baking programme.
Grant said: “I tuned in every Tuesday night to watch Lizzie and am so proud of what she achieved- she is an incredible role model for our business.”
Lizzie left the show two weeks ago on a technicolour triumph after creating the most successful showstopper of the series which celebrated Special Educational Needs (SEN) and was all about diversity and being different.
Grant said, “I promised my family a selfie with Lizzie but went one better as I managed to sneak an extra slice of cake back home with me for them to try!”
Grant added: “It’s extra special that Lizzie made a themed cake as TIC means so much to me personally and excelled my own career and Lizzie also shared with me that taking part in TIC gave her the confidence to do things out of her comfort zone like the Great British Bake Off. She has now gone from TIC to TIC TOK and has over 80,000 followers on there so must be one of the most famous faces at Jaguar Land Rover!”
Getting involved in continuous improvement is a key way that employees can play their part in our transformation through Refocus. TIC not only helps to shape our future by improving the quality and efficiency of our processes, it’s also a brilliant enabler to engagement, allowing employees to realise their potential, do something different and give them exposure to other departments and people within our business.
