Panasonic Jaguar Racing is preparing to electrify the streets of Zurich as motorsport returns to Switzerland for the first time in 64 years.
Set against the idyllic backdrop of Lake Zurich and the Alps,
this is the newest addition to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. With none of
the grid having ever raced on the 2.64km track before, the Panasonic Jaguar
Racing drivers – Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr – have been spent time getting
acquainted to the race track on the simulator ahead this weekend.
Team Director James Barclay, said: “It is also a privilege
to bring motorsport back to Switzerland with electric power. Formula E
continues to innovate and bringing motorsport back to this country is another
perfect example of how this Formula is doing things differently for the benefit
of the sport and our fans.”
Both Mitch and Nelson are looking forward to pitting their
wits against the Zurich city circuit, but are also focused on gathering as many
points as possible ahead of the double-header finale in New York.
Mitch added: “We are so close to the end of the season with
only three races to go and I would love to go into New York with a few more
points under my belt and in a stronger position in the championship standings.”
Nelson was equally in optimistic mood, with him saying: “The
team have been working really hard and learned a lot from the last few races so
I’m confident we will be able to secure some vital points before the season
finale in New York.”
