Panasonic Jaguar Racing is preparing itself to fight for another points haul in Mexico City, as the team looks to better its solid result from the last race.
The team is determined to better its results from the lastround in Santiago, Chile, where Nelson Piquet Jr and Mitch Evans finished sixth
and seventh respectively.
The fifth race of the Formula E season, on March 3, sees the teams pit
their wits at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Circuit, which is situated 2500m
above sea level, and will see the teams face off on a dedicated race track
rather than the street circuits of Santiago and Marrakesh.
Nelson Piquet Jr said: “Our Jaguar race cars have the speed
and with every race we get closer and closer to the front of the field. We will
push again in Mexico and keep learning and improving as we compete for vital
championship points.”
But there is plenty of room for optimism: Panasonic Jaguar
Racing recorded its highest finish at this track in its debut season last year,
with Mitch Evans snatching fourth place in a dramatic finale. Mitch says that
the team has made huge improvements and, after the success in Santiago where he
navigated his I-TYPE 2 from last on the grid to finish seventh, is confident of
building on that momentum and securing the team more vital points.
“Mexico last year was a fantastic moment for the team. It
was the first and only race both drivers finished in the points,” said Mitch.
“So far this season we have made huge improvements on our race strategy and the
Jaguar I-TYPE 2 has proved it is a fast race car.”
Team Director James Barclay expects the team to build on its
strong performance for last year with another haul of points.
You can help the team and give the drivers an added boost by
voting for them in the FanBoost via Twitter or the Formula E website and app.
If Nelson or Mitch finish in the top three of voting, they could benefit from a
five second burst of power, which sees the I-TYPE 2’s power go from 200bhp to
240bhp momentarily – it could be all the difference between finishing on the
podium and fourth.
