Panasonic Jaguar Racing is looking to get back on track as the ABB FIA Formula E circuit arrives in Berlin next weekend.
After a couple of tough races in Rome and Paris, the team is
determined to fightback, with the Jaguar I-TYPE 2 showing good pace and
consistent performance in races, practice sessions and qualifying throughout
the season.
Rome saw Mitch Evans miss out on a podium place just after an unfortunate incident while fighting for first place, while in Paris a ten-place grid penalty thanks to a precautionary gearbox change saw him playing catch-up before being involved in a coming together on the first lap.
Nelson Piquet Jr has retired from the last couple of races
thanks to seatbelt issues, while free practice in Rome saw the Nelson get a
little too close and personal to a wall, which required a huge scale rebuild to
ensure he could take part in the race.
Team Director James Barclay said although the team had a
tough weekend in Paris, there is still more to come from Panasonic Jaguar
Racing, adding:
“As we approach the final races of the season we’re happy
with the progress we’ve made. Comparing our results from last year there has
been a significant improvement and we hope to continue fighting and finish the
season with more points.”
Formula E returns to the Tempelhof Airport circuit for the
fourth time, with the 2.37km, 10 corner street circuit designed to showcase all
the efficiencies of the electric race cars. Last year, Mitch walked away from
the double header race weekend with the fastest lap in the first race and hopes
to replicate the pace in the improved I-TYPE 2.
“I have no doubt that we will come back fighting in Berlin
and I’m determined to come away with a strong result,” he added.
The Berlin E-Prix also marks a historic moment for Jaguar
Racing as the I-PACE eTrophy race car makes its global debut before becoming
the all-electric support series for the ABB FIA Formula E 2018/2019 season.
