It was a special reunion for our Tool Room team last week as they got to see - for the first time- the exceptional car they played a part in creating, as the third generation Range Rover Sport parked up in Press Shop and Tool Room for a tour of Halewood.
The terrific team made the 10 blanking dies (or press tool components) for the stunning car within its state-of-the-art Die Manufacturing Centre, which opened last year at Halewood.
The blanking dies were used to create specific parts for the new Range Rover Sport including the front door inners, front fenders, body sides and a number of the structural parts of its underbody – all delivered in-house within the Halewood Tool Room and Press Shop.
The new Range Rover Sport is the definition of sporting luxury and is part of Jaguar Land Rover’s vision for Modern Luxury by Design, to offer peerless refinement and quality.
Talking about getting the team together to see the finished car at Halewood, Tool Room manager, Pat Thomson, said: “I’m delighted the team could see the car on their home turf, where it all began for them, and to be among some of the first people in the country to cast their eyes over the exceptional model they helped to create.”
The most desirable, advanced and dynamically capable model to-date, the new Range Rover Sport will play a huge part in delivering Jaguar Land Rover’s corporate Reimagine strategy and company purpose – an exceptional car which has the unique capability to deliver both volume and profit.
Pat added: “There are elements of this new car that are born in Halewood - so seeing it up close like that underlined all the great work they did last year, manufacturing the dies and playing their part in the company’s exciting Reimagine journey, which makes me feel very proud.”
