With Christmas just around the corner, Scott Flannery, from Trim and Final, has started a toy and donations appeal for Aid to All- a charity he helped his cousin to set up earlier this year, which has fed over 700 local families in five months.
Aid to All provides people with access to food, clothes and furniture as well as one-to-one emotional support for anyone struggling with mental health issues, substance abuse or relationship problems.
Earlier this morning, Scott placed donation boxes in all of the People’s Centres on site and employees can donate to the appeal up until 17 December. All of the goods collected will be used to create special Christmas boxes for families in need, across Merseyside this Christmas time.
Employees can donate toys, clothing, toiletries, crayons and don’t need to worry about wrapping gifts or essentials as Scott and his team of volunteers will be doing this themselves and hand-delivering parcels up until Christmas Eve.
Speaking about Aid to All’s Christmas Appeal, Scott said: “I go and visit families every day around my shifts, and I can’t believe the poverty some people are living in- I’ve seen parents that don’t even have enough money to buy clothes for their children to keep them warm this winter- it’s heart-breaking.
“This is happening right on our doorstep, and we might not be able to change the world, but we can still make small contributions which will make a big difference to so many families.
Scott said: “If everyone at Halewood could donate just one item, we could help hundreds of people in our local communities this Christmas time. All we ask is that if you can, you pick up just one extra present or essential item on your weekly shop- no matter how big or small- it will go a long way towards helping a family and putting a smile on a child’s face this Christmas.”
