A team from Halewood Paint Shop spent three days transforming a pond area at John Joesph Powell Care Home in Prescot recently.
The pond and surrounding area was feeling unloved with no water feature for the residents to enjoy. The team worked tirelessly over the three days to help as much as they could. They emptied the pond of 5000 litres of water and had enough waste to fill a skip. The pond was then refilled and stocked with over 100 fish and a pump was installed creating an attractive water feature. The team also gave the paving stones a jet wash, stained all the garden furniture and placed hanging baskets around the garden.
The residents loved the changes and are already enjoying sitting outside and relaxing. Care Home Manager Michelle Duvell, told us, “Some of the residents hadn’t been out of their rooms for over six months, yet couldn’t wait to get outside and enjoy their new surroundings, which made the whole project worthwhile.”
Well done to the whole team involved - Ged Thurston (Coordinator), Russ Bolton (Leader), John Swainson, Andrew Ahmed, Jay Gorman and Dave Thomas.
Ged was really pleased with the result and team work, “They all did a great job which was really well received by all. It was great to see the area being used again by all its residents.”
