Dave Parry, IPS Manager, really embraced the RESET mentality when he returned to Halewood a couple of weeks ago. He wanted to make sure that he caught up with the plants hard work on Kaizens and recognising your fantastic ideas. So far for 2019-2020, we’ve seen a staggering 2,471 Kaizens raised, which is more than three times as many from the previous year.
Dave knows how importance of Kaizens and how they will support our focus on RESET - driving out waste and costs by focussing on Continuous Improvement activities. Dave needed to gather the votes for the Kaizens of the month – but faced a challenge, he usually completed the voting by paper but in the current circumstances Dave knew he needed to find a more efficient and corona-friendly way of collecting those all-important votes – and quickly!
Dave was inspired by Mentimeter which was a voting system used at the Leadership Town Hall, which allows you to get real-time votes from remote teams. This was a perfect alternative to his usual way of collecting the results, so Dave put the wheels in motion!
Dave told us, “Kaizens are so important to our business and when collecting the results, we need to lead by example and come up with the most efficient and effective way of recognising the hard work colleagues do when they raise a Kaizen. The great thing about using Mentimeter was that as people voted you could see the results update live, which made our Technology Managers very competitive”!
So far we have completed January and February Kaizens of the month and very soon with Dave’s nifty new process we will be caught up and recognising all your brilliant ideas – keep them coming!
