Jaguar Land Rover is on the hunt for the next generation of software engineers to help develop the company’s electric future by finding jobs in the business.
Following the success of the 2017 coding challenge, the
business has announced it will be offering fast-track undergraduate placements,
bursaries and postgraduate jobs in the UK, Ireland, USA and China. The aim is
to coax the best talent from the computer science, electronics and software
worlds to work on Jaguar Land Rover’s Autonomous, Connected, Electrified and
Shared (ACES) strategy.
Alex Heslop, Director of Electrical, Electronics and
Software Engineering, said attracting talented young engineers is crucial to
the development of our business, adding:
“The undergraduate and postgraduate placements are vital to
the company and provide young engineers with real-world experience in the midst
of a fast-paced changing industry.”
Supported by Panasonic Jaguar Racing, the ‘Race to Innovate’
campaign means successful candidates will need to apply their technical
expertise in a mixed-reality, code-breaking application fronted by ambassador
Noodle from the Gorillaz. So far 32 entrants have successfully navigated the
programme and are in discussions about securing future roles, with the first
hire made from this process made in September 2017.
Those who are successful will design and develop software
for the future of electrical systems. The advanced systems include everything
from electrical systems, cyber security and functional safety, which will be
plugged into the infotainment system, connected cloud features and consumer
electronics.
James Barclay, Panasonic Jaguar Racing Team Director, says:
“A key aim of Panasonic Jaguar Racing’s mission – Race to Innovate – is to
inspire and engage with a new generation of talented young engineers who are
interested in developing the cars of the future.”
Over the last five years Jaguar Land Rover has recruited
more than 2,400 young people on its graduate and apprentice programmes.
If you know anybody who is an electrical engineering
undergraduate or postgraduate who would be interested in joining Jaguar Land Rover can apply here.
